The current veterans' memorial was designed and
constructed several years ago as a joint effort of the
Sebring Lions Club, F&AM Lodge 626, American Legion
Post 76, VFW Post 6730 and the village of Sebring.  The
former concrete memorial had fallen into disrepair to the
point that it would have been cost prohibitive to restore.
Members of the Lions Club decided to take on the project
of building a new memorial and one of their members
designed the current memorial.  With assistance from the
masonic lodge and the veterans organizations in town, the
village of Sebring and many volunteers, removal of the old
memorial and construction of the new one began.  In order
to offset the construction costs and also to begin a fund for
the upkeep of the new memorial, the bricks used in the
center of the memorial were sold and could be inscribed
with name, branch of service, etc. to honor area veterans.
With the sale of the bricks and the many volunteer hours
donated to this worthwhile project the memorial became a
reality.  It is currently maintained by a veterans' memorial
committee consisting of 1 member each from village
council, Lodge 626, Post 76, Post 6730 and the village
parks & recreation board.  Bricks will continue to be sold
as long as there is space for them.  For ordering
